What To Expect After Your Treatment

In order to ensure that you get maximum benefit from your treatment and to help avoid any adverse reactions it is recommended that you follow the below guidelines for 24 hours after treatment:

  • Drink plenty of water to flush out toxins

  • Avoid anything strenuous or stressful

  • Make time to relax and rest if you feel tired

  • Keep yourself warm

  • Eat a light meal rather than a heavy one

  • Avoid alcohol/caffeine/cigarettes

  • Leave the oil/wax/balm on the skin for up to 4 hours after treatment to allow for absorption into the skin to gain maximum benefit from the treatment

It has also been known for certain people to suffer an adverse reaction, which may be a heightened, but temporary, worsening of symptoms, or the appearance of new symptoms. This is usually followed by an improvement in the condition. This may occur after one treatment or after many treatments and may last for a few hours or longer. This is a sign that the body is responding to treatment and is part of the body’s natural healing process.

Adverse Reactions

Some of the common reactions to treatment are shown below:

  • Nausea or sickness

  • Headaches or tiredness

  • Vivid dreams

  • Increase in urination/sweating

  • Temporary worsening of symptoms

  • Thirst

  • Heightened emotional state – tearful, sad, elated

  • Aching joints

  • Increased mucous production

  • Heavier menstrual flow

This is quite normal and is a positive reaction to the treatment as toxins are released from the body as the body works to heal itself. After effects can be reduced or eliminated if you follow the advice mentioned above, and usually disappear after a few days.  If you have any concerns please contact me or your GP.
